Big Pink Bus Reaches 10k Mammogram Milestone

Lone Star Circle of Care (LSCC) has reached a major milestone in its commitment to providing affordable and accessible breast cancer screening for women across Central Texas. The Big Pink Bus has performed 10,000 mammograms since LSCC began offering screening mammography services in 2021. The Bus travels throughout Bastrop, Bell, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties to bring screenings directly into communities. Services increase regional access to breast cancer screening for primarily underserved and uninsured communities by offering affordable care close to home.

“The Big Pink Bus provides women in Central Texas access to high quality, affordable mammograms. Reaching 10,000 screenings is an extraordinary milestone that reflects our team’s commitment to early detection and community health,” said Jon Calvin, CEO of Lone Star Circle of Care. “We are grateful to our partners and supporters who make this vital service possible.”

The Bus is supported through operating revenue, grants, contributions, and funds raised by the annual Big Pink Benefit. Community partnerships allow the Bus to serve patients at a variety of locations including churches, health centers, employers, and social service agencies. Beyond providing 10,000 mammograms to women across Central Texas, the Big Pink Bus team has supported more than 1,600 patients through follow-up care, with 75 of those women having been diagnosed with breast cancer as a result of their screening on the Bus.
