It’s Time For 2020 Open Enrollment!

Marketplace 2020 is here! The annual enrollment period begins November 1 and ends December 15. Understanding the options available will help you make the best choice for you and your family. Lone Star Circle of Care is here to help you every step of the way.

What is Marketplace Health Insurance?

Available under the Affordable Care Act, the Health Insurance Marketplace is a service that helps you shop for and enroll in affordable health plans. If you do not have employer-sponsored health coverage and are not enrolled in Medicaid, Medicare, or CHIP; this may be for you.

Important facts to know:

  • Annual enrollment is only available November 1 – December 15 for 2020 coverage, unless you have a qualifying life event such as a change in marital status, birth of a child, or loss of employer coverage.
  • There are four levels of coverage available:

○      bronze

○      silver

○      gold

○      platinum

  • All four plan levels in the Marketplace cover benefits including hospitalization, pregnancy and newborn care, prescription drugs, and others. Ask for details when enrolling.
  • You cannot be denied coverage regardless of preexisting conditions if you enroll during the open enrollment period.
  • Coverage from 2019 open enrollment begin January 1, 2020.

What Do I Need to Know For Open Enrollment This Year?

Whether you are new to Marketplace insurance or re-enrolling this year, it’s important to review your options. Health insurance plans change each year, potentially involving changes to provider networks, drug coverage, and co-pays. Now is the time to assess your family’s health needs for the coming year and check to see if your doctors are in network for your selected plan. Lone Star Circle of Care Enrollment Staff can help you determine which plan is best for you based on your family’s health needs.

Marketplace insurance rates are based on the plan you select and your annual household income. If your family income is at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Limit, you may be eligible for a premium tax credit that will be applied to your monthly insurance bill. We can help you better understand what financial assistance you may be eligible for this year.

How Do I Get Started During Open Enrollment?

You can apply several ways for insurance through the Marketplace: online, by phone, with in-person help, or on partner websites. Starting November 1, Lone Star Circle of Care will provide free, in-person support to help you assess plan options, explore financial assistance, and offer 1-on-1 guidance through the enrollment process.
