Did you know that about 1 in 4 adults suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder in a given year? This includes eating disorders which affect at least 9% of the population worldwide. Common eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and eating disorder not otherwise specified. Eating disorders are the second deadliest mental illnesses, after opioid overdose. Just over 10,000 deaths each year are the direct result of an eating disorder—that’s one death every 52 minutes. About 26% of these are a direct result of suicide. Seeking help for eating disorders can be expensive but it doesn’t have to be. Click here to access free virtual support groups.
