Securely Send Electronic Messages to your Care Team
Most consumer email accounts (e.g., Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo) are not secure enough to send and receive sensitive health information over the internet. The Lone Star Circle of Care Patient Portal allows patients to exchange secure, encrypted email messages with their care team, including their provider. Follow the instructions below to get started.
Login to the Patient Portal. To send a message, click on Compose Message under the Mail tab.
Now, fill in each of the required fields, including the category or type of message, the name of your provider, and the subject of your message. Then, in the largest field, type in your question or concern and press Submit. Your provider or another member of your care team (e.g., nurse, medical assistant) will respond to you within two business days.
IMPORTANT: Do not use the Patient Portal if you have a medical emergency. Call 911 immediately. Do not send urgent messages that require an answer sooner than two business days. The Patient Portal should not be used to request prescription refills. Click Prescription Refills for information on how to make a refill request.
To see messages you’ve received from your care team, click on Inbox under the Mail tab.
When your care team responds, you’ll see their message in your Inbox. In your Inbox, you may also see a number of automated messages, including confirmed appointments, billing statements, care plan summaries, and patient education documents. Just as with any other email program, click on a message to read it, and select Reply to respond.
